Role Overview
As a Weekend Technical Support Engineer, you will be the first line of defense for our IT infrastructure. You will manage a high volume of support tickets, resolve complex hardware and software issues, and collaborate with the wider engineering team to improve our service delivery.
Responsibilities
- Incident Management: Monitor and resolve incoming technical support tickets via the helpdesk system with a target response time of under 30 minutes.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and rectify hardware, network, and software issues for internal staff and external clients.
- System Monitoring: Perform proactive system health checks and maintenance tasks during off-peak hours to prevent weekend outages.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all incidents, resolutions, and technical procedures in our knowledge base.
- Communication: Provide clear, professional updates to stakeholders regarding system status and ongoing incidents.
- Support Coordination: Liaise with the wider engineering team to escalate complex issues requiring immediate attention.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in a technical support or helpdesk role.
- Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of Windows and macOS operating systems, Active Directory, and common office software (Office 365).
- Networking: Basic understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, and network troubleshooting tools.
- Availability: Must be available to work Saturday and Sunday on a rotating shift pattern (e.g., 08:00 - 18:00).
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Problem Solving: Ability to think critically and troubleshoot complex issues under pressure.
