Responsibilities
- Design and implement novel quantum algorithms for practical applications in cryptography, optimization, and machine learning
- Lead experimental validation of quantum computing systems using superconducting qubits and photonic processors
- Develop error mitigation techniques to advance quantum error correction thresholds
- Collaborate with hardware teams to co-design quantum processors with optimized connectivity and coherence times
- Publish high-impact research in leading journals and present findings at international conferences
- Secure external funding through NSF, DOE, and DARPA grants
- Mentor junior researchers in quantum information theory and experimental methodologies
Qualifications
- PhD in Quantum Computing, Physics, Computer Science, or related field with 5+ years of research experience
- Proven expertise in quantum algorithm development (Shor's, Grover's, VQE, QAOA)
- Hands-on experience with quantum programming frameworks (Qiskit, Cirq, Q#)
- Strong publication record in Nature/Science/Physical Review journals
- Deep understanding of quantum decoherence models and error correction codes (surface, color, LDPC)
- Experience with cryogenic quantum hardware control systems
- Ability to secure $500K+ in external research funding
- Excellent communication skills for cross-disciplinary collaboration
